Twig Talk – January 2021

WHAT’S NEW
We extend a warm welcome to our newest member, Nora Adshade, in Halifax. This brings us to 44 members in all three Maritime provinces. We averaged 10 more members in 2020 over 2019. We are all looking forward to the day when we can meet in person!

On Friday, January 22, Canada Revenue Agency representative Charbel Saab gave a re-offering of an online presentation on tax tips for small businesses, which was originally presented in November 2020. By request, we opened up this session to our fellow members in Toronto and 16 of them joined in. A PDF of the presentation was emailed to attendees, along with a link to a short CRA survey.

Of special interest to our student affiliates will be Editors Canada’s Claudette Upton Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship to help support continuing professional development in editing.

Editors Canada is seeking to draw upon members’ experiences and thoughts to inform strategies for seeking equity within the organization by asking members to complete a short survey.
