Before becoming a Hansard editor at New Brunswick’s Legislative Assembly, I taught English to speakers of other languages: international students and Francophone military personnel.

I am a freelance copy editor and a proofreader of the Hansard when the Nova Scotia legislature is in session. In my down time I read, solve puzzles, do yoga, go on hikes, cycle, swim, make music (I play euphonium in two concert bands), and I’m an active community volunteer.
I am an experienced academic/nonfiction editor specializing in works that engage critically with social and political issues, such as racism, anti-Black racism, colonialism, white supremacy, gender and sexuality, and poverty. I work on both academic texts and narrative nonfiction, including memoirs. I am a member of Sweetgrass First Nation in Saskatchewan and currently reside in Oromocto, New Brunswick. I received my Master of Public Health from the University of Waterloo in 2011, a certificate in Addiction Studies from McMaster University in 2016 and a certificate in editing from Simon Fraser University in 2019. I also received a BSc(H) in biology from Queen’s University in 2007.

I have been writing and editing for over forty years, in professional positions such as software documentation specialist and newspaper editor, and as a freelance editor working with many clients. I maintain a high-ranked profile on the Upwork freelance site. Currently (2022) most of my work is for Moose House Publications, a publisher in Nova Scotia, and for the Apache Software Foundation, one of the largest organizations developing and distributing free and open-source software.
I am a longtime editor/writer, having worked primarily for print magazines; I have recently branched out to take on communications roles. I have a silver Atlantic Journalism Award for Best Magazine Article and have been a finalist for the Professional Writers Association of Canada’s Editor of the Year award.
